Cannon Hall
Cannon Hall dates from the early 18th Century, with additional wings added in 1764–67 by Georgian architect John Carr. Now a museum and working farm, the building needed critical roof repairs along with attention to the stone dressings on the parapets and cornices.
Restoration Projects erected a full tented scaffold and removed the felt roof to expose the structure. The substructure is being replaced with new joists and boarding to accommodate a new lead roof and integrate steps. Gutters have been reformed and outlet sizes increased to improve drainage.
Our stonemasons carried out extensive surveys and produced 3D modelling for the replacement ashlar and moulded cornice work, now in production.
Once complete, leadwork will be followed by installation of new patent-glazed roof lights and lime plaster repairs to address earlier leak damage.
